Backseat mirrors is a crucial item to have that you didn't know you needed until you need it. These mirrors are a God send that allows you to see your baby from your rear view mirror to see them while you are driving to know whether or not they are safe and possibly give you an idea of why they are crying. This miracle give you a peace of mind that all is well with your baby during your drive when you don't have another passenger to check on your precious cargo.
The baby caboodle backseat mirror offers a large mirror that is crystal clear that allows you to have full view of your baby. The product comes un-assembled, in 3 parts, and you just need to put it together. Putting it together is simple as far as directions go, but actually getting the fitting where it needs to be was a challenge I will get into below.
The mirror comes with a protective film you will need to remove before use. I peeled it back to check the clarity of the mirror and it is crystal clear. The quality of the mirror was exceptional!
The picture above is the back piece that goes against your headrest. I appreciate that there is foam that protects your seat and is not just plastic that directly interfaces with your headrest.
These are the pieces that comes in the package that you will need to assemble. The piece on the far left attaches to the mirror first. Then, the piece on the right attaches to the left piece, also the "joint" of the unit that allows you to move and pivot the mirror at an angle that allows you to view your previous cargo.
This piece was relatively easy to install. You just push the gray square upwards and push this joint into the socket.
You must push hard downwards to get it locked into place till it looks like the photo above. Once you see it locked in with the tab over the joint then you can proceed to attaching the third piece. Please be sure you get it locked in or this could be a hazard and fall on your baby!
Joining this last piece was definitely the hardest part for me! It was an extremely tight fit and the harder I pushed down, the joint would move downwards too. So one hand had to try and keep the joint from moving around from the pressure of you pushing this last piece and sliding it into place. After 2 tries and a lot of effort, I was finally able to get it completely locked in place so that the bottom tab you see is over the piece I inserted. I will be honest, I almost gave up and called it good enough but I would be way too nervous that the car movement would dislodge this connection and the mirror would hit my kid so I persevered until I heard the click and was able to visibly see it locked in place.
The process of actually installing it on the headrest was really easy and intuitive. I just strapped and buckled it together. I adjusted the tightness while it was already attached and found that easier for me to get a tight fit.
I love this mirror and extra large size. It gives such a large viewing space that I feel assured I'll be able to see my kid no matter how they are positioned! This is definitely an essential item to have that parents don't think to purchase!
