Funkeen Waterproof Winter Dog Jacket

This warm and cozy reversible winter dog jacket is cotton on one side and nylon on the other. The nylon side is the waterproof side.  The jacket is the equivalent to our puffer jackets. The fill material is polyester fibers and helps insulate your dog during those cold winter days. The fasteners are velcro for the chest and underbelly area.

The jacket features an elasticated chest protector making it both easy to put on and remove. Most importantly, I think this really increases the comfort for your dog when they are moving around and laying around because it stretches. Think leggings for women or sweats for men...they are exponentially more comfortable than jeans, am I right?! Your pup deserves to feel comfy, too.

There is also a hole on the backside of the neck for a leash, but if you are using a harness or front lead type of leash, this won't really be useful for you. I re-adjust the harness during the winter months when she will be going out so accomodate the extra bulk from the jacket. Care for the jacket is simple, throw it in the wash with your like colored clothing and then dry in the dryer!

Van Ness Pureness Dinner Mats

The large rectangular dinner mat measures about 12" x 20" outside & 10" x 18" on inside (not including the raised edge.

The small dinner mat is an oval shape measures about 17" long x 11" wide and 10" x 15"on the inner surface.

The mat is non skid and won't move around your floors. It also keeps the bowls on the mat steady too. Great for those heavy eaters who nose their dishes around the floor loudly. It's also raised on the edges and does the job of containing water or food spillage. The mat is very easy to clean! Beats all the other types of non-rubber mats I've used. 

You can see a comparison of how each mat holds the same large sized water bowl and medium sized food bowls. For your reference, my dog is a 21lb cockapoo and those are large and medium sized bella bowls. 

 

Verdict: These are absolutely fantastic pet dinner mats. They keep my floors clean and are a breeze to clean. The biggest issue I've always had with mats is keeping it clean. These, I can literally hose off in my sink when I'm feeling lazy and will be ready to go because they dry quickly! I do think it is unnecessary for the large blue dinner mat to have the little hanging tab on the right (see picture above). It's a useless add-on for consumers, but I see how it can be useful for a store.

Cedar Pet Toy Box (Large)

This beautiful cedar pet toy box from Woodlore is one of the best toy boxes for your pet! The smell of cedar is strong right out of the box, but you don't notice it once it's in your house. It helps deter insects so I don't have to sorry about bugs inside the box! Woodlore is a specialty shop for cedar products founded in 1987, read more about their story here.

The toy box is made in the USA and is approximately 5.5 lbs. It measures 16.5"L x 10"H x 16.5"W or 42 x 25 x 42 cm.

I do wish the crate was shorter in height for her to be able to get her toys. She has to choke herself to get things in the middle. She can only get the toys comfortable at the very top.

The details on this box is what makes it so special. It has these paw prints "engraved" or stamped into the wood.

I love the thoughtful design of the bottom of this box! I keep it on the hardwood and don't have to worry about it scratching my floors!

Verdict: This is, hands down, the most well made and fashionable jacket we have every come across. The interior is this eye-catching navy striped fabric that matches with the navy fleece and exterior. The design is extremely thoughtful and the quality is amazing. If you could buy just ONE jacket for your dog, ever, this is the one to get. Put all your money into this, you will not be disappointed. We have used this often and it is everyone's favorite. We get a ton of compliments when we are out and about and have spread the word on this wonderful product from one4pets!

Vastar® Curved Scissor Set

Vastar's curved scissor set is complete with the tools you need to complete your grooming kit for your fur baby.  The set is made of stainless steel and comes in a nice zippered storage case. The packages comes with a straight shears, curved shears, thinning shears, and one comb.

The straight and thinning shears arrived smooth and sharp, but I experienced an issue with the curved shears. It wasn't sharp all the way through and the half towards the tip didn't cut my pup's fur. I wrote to Vastar and they immediately remediated the situation and send a new set! Talk about good service! The thinning shears are great for thinning out blunt cuts so it doesn't have a harsh line. I could've used this a long time ago!!

All the shears have a screw that you can adjust for tightness or to separate the scissors for sharpening. There is a little rubber num between the scissor's pink handles that keep the scissor handles from hitting each other and dampens the sound of the scissors in use.  The plastic guards in the finger handles are also removable for cleaning of if you want the extra space. I can imagine these being a little more difficult to comfortable use for large fingers.

Harness Lead

Harness Lead was invented by a shelter volunteer who spent countless hours in the company of homeless dogs and faced the need to fit all the different body types in the shelter, prevent the problem of scared/skittish dogs backing out of harnesses and collars and reducing the pulling of dogs with pent up energy in a gentle and humane way. The harness rope is hand spliced in the USA and has a tensile strength of 3,700 pounds! That's strong enough to hold a boat. BUT this rope is now chew proof so you can't just leave your dog out there on the leash if they are a chewer. The harness is designed to tighten around the barrel body of the dog like a slip lead except this won't choke them!! My dog has always been on a harness type leash since she was a baby so she doesn't understand the concept of choking herself to death when we just use a collar or slip leash. She just keeps choking hacking and choking. She's a smart dog, but ...not about this. 

They advertise this lease as escape proof and I can attest to this as my dog often makes off like a bandit after backing out of the leash. When she backs out on this leash, the leash tightens around her "barrel" (without choking her, mind you). Once she stops backing out and pulling, the harness will loosen around her so it's not uncomfortable. There are two sizes. The one we have here is the small/medium for 14 to 40 lbs. They also carry the medium/large for 40 to 200 lbs.

The rope/leash is made of a soft nylon loose weave and it is very comfortable to hold. The lead is made in the USA and made with a double braided nylon construction. I love the feel of the rope in my hand. There are no metal buckles or anything hard on the harness. It did take me some practice getting the hang of donning and doffing the harness after I learned how to make a proper fit on my pup. The diagrams on the packaging wasn't as helpful as the videos on the webpage. I recommend watching those for fitting (links below). We've gotten compliments on the leash when we went to the vet with it last week! Someone wrote down the leash because she liked how it looked and the concept after we explained how it works. She wanted to try it on her pitbull because she only had a regular slip lead and it choked him a lot! We are sort of a walking advertisement!

The care instruction is simple. Throw it in the washing machine and line dry. Do not put it in the dryer!

Buddy & Co. Nylon Dog Leash with Reflective Stitching

When I am shopping for leashes for my dog, I'm always looking for comfort for the hand that holds the leash and quality. I stumbled across Buddy & Co and received a leash for review. The leash came in a little reusable resealable clear bag/pouch.

I received the neon orange nylon leash and love the bright "safety orange" color. The leash is 3/4 inch wide and 6ft long with reflective stitching on both sides of the entire length of the leash.  I'll admit I was a little doubtful that this would really be reflective enough to make a difference but once we took it out, I was pleasantly surprised that the stitching was definitely reflective enough when a car's headlights shines towards us.

The leash features an additional D-ring at the top near the handle so that you can hook your poop bags (or whatever else you want) onto the leash.

The thoughtful design adds extra padding at the handgrip to increase handling comfort. Overall, this is a great lightweight leash that increases you and your pup's visibility for those evening walks!

The whole line of stainless steel pet bowls are manufactured in India. The Van ness company has a close relationship with our supplier and visits their factory regularly. Their supplier’s primary business is high-end restaurant and hotel-grade stainless steel accessories for the European and American markets.

The stainless steel used in the production of all of Van Ness' pet bowls is 201 series 14/1. The company informed me that they "are not aware of any company in the pet industry using 18/8 since such calibre stainless would be prohibitively expensive. 18/8 stainless would be more appropriate for cookware due to its resistance to the high temperatures associated with cooking - pet bowls are not exposed to high temperatures".

The stainless steel bowl has a 48 ounce capacity and is made with 6 gauge polished stainless steel.  It is a nice and deep basic dog bowl made with quality steel so you can rest assured you're using the best material for feeding your dog.  The bottom of the dish features a skid-proof bonded rubber. It's on there permanently! My pup has no issues with pushing this dish around and it stays buckled to the floor.

The "No tip dish" has a 32 ounce capacity and comes in two lacquered colors.  The bowl features a non-skin ring that is around the bottom rim of the dish and is removeable.

The care for both of these bowls is to hand wash in warm soapy water. The only downside is that they are not dishwasher safe.
