Aden + Anais Swaddles

Swaddles. Swaddles. Swaddles. A sea of swaddle choices but who has not heard of or seen Aden + Anais swaddles either advertised on the web, at your mom friend's home, or at Target? As a future first time mom, naturally we had to see what all the fuss is about and whether or not they live up to expectation. Aden + Anais was born from an Australian born mom when she was having her first child here in the US and was not able to find any muslin wraps that were used used by parents all over Australia. That's when some of the first muslin wraps were introduced in the states and a flood of similar products swiftly followed after it gained mass popularity. You can read more about A+A story here. In this post I will be reviewing the cotton muslin swaddle, their classic line and where it all started, in the Jungle Jam print. 

This particular set came in a pack of two, but the popular ones on Amazon are a pack of 4 for $49.95, or you can get this same set I am reviewing for $27.50 if the shocking price is off putting but you'd really like to try them.

Here you can see the weave and the back side of the print. The muslin has two layers, though it really takes some time to figure that out when you have it in your hands and want to try to separate the layers to check! The two layers are sewn together well and doesn't pucker anywhere after the wash. The fact that this is prewashed is a big deal. I've had muslin baby washcloths that weren't prewashed and they shrunk a LOT in the first wash! Still usable but very disappointing how tiny it was afterwards.

Aden and Anais have different lines. The one reviewed here is their boutique line and that is slightly different than the ones sold at your local Target. Those ones are made with different prints and they measure a tad smaller at 40" x 40", while the A+A boutique ones measure 47" x 47".  Just keep that in mind when you are choosing which set to buy. I have read some people say that the boutique versions are superior in quality and that those 7 inches make a difference with swaddling your baby.

As you can see, this is a pretty big swaddle blanket! This is blanket laid across a full size bed.

Oh the prints. The darling prints of all the A+A designs are adorable. And they just keep getting better. I would buy these blankets just for the prints! So are these worth it?? I definitely think so. These blankets are some of the highest quality blankets I've come across! Especially with the given dimensions. They keep coming out with darling designs and now they have a bamboo blanket line that I've heard is just a dream to touch. I am itching to get one of those too!! I've heard a lot of great things about Aden + Anais, and I am just one more person to confirm the that the rumors are true!!
