Those little fingers and toes need special clippers unless you are planning on biting them off yourself. I read that some parents do choose to bite them off, but I don't! That is an option I prefer not to do as it may introduce bacteria from your mouth to baby in the event you bite it a little too aggressively and micro tear their delicate skin. That could cause an unnecessary infection for something that can easily be address with baby scissors. Disclaimer, this is a picture heavy post!
First off, you want to make sure you are getting an authentic pair of Piyo Piyo baby clippers. Behind the boxes/packaging of all Piyo Piyo products features one of the hologrammed stickers of the character to authenticate the item. Pretty adorable, right?
Now the scissors. They are adorable, itty bitty, and sharp scissors that are made in Japan. They feature rounded tips at the end of the blade to prevent any accidents like poking your baby when they are squirming around while you are trying to cut their little nails. The protective covering is a great feature of these scissors and I love it because it doesn't add any bulk. Some baby scissors come in a case and the case itself is bulky and unnecessary when all you need is a shield for the blades as this pair comes with.
The blades of the scissors are made of stainless steel and are designed to be used by both right and left handed people. I can only speak for the right handed people that these work great for us. Sorry lefties, we are all righties in this household so I couldn't test its use with left handers!
The scissors are curved to make it easier for you to cut with less tiny snips or have any sharp corners resulting in your baby scratching themselves. Those baby nails are sharp!
In the photos above, I tried to show you both the curvature of the blade as well as how it looks in the hand. They are pretty small scissors with small holes you this might not work for those with larger fingers. Though they'd have to be much bigger. Scissors in general might not be a good fit for those with larger fingers. I tried these scissors on my adult nails and they truly cut! Keep in mind these are made for the delicate and soft nails of a baby, though!
These are probably the cutest baby nail clippers I've come across. Who doesn't love this darling design?! Maybe my husband because he is not into anything "cute" and just practical. So I'll give you the real feedback on these. First, I like the thoughtful design of providing a blade protector on these clippers because I throw this with baby stuff in a dresser and this will keep it from snagging on delicate clothing or toys.
The ergonomic handle is actually very pleasant to use. I wasn't so sure about that because I have a pair of great nail clippers from Japan that had plastic around the nail clipper to make it ergonomic to hold but I found it to be bulky and not easy to hold so I ended up taking the cover off. This cover doesn't come off on the Piyo Piyo but I am happy to report that it is very comfortable to use and get a grip on. The nail clipper itself is smaller in length than your standard adult clippers, but because it is wrapped in the plastic covering to make it more ergonomic, it actually is about the same size as an adult clipper. As is the blade which we will get into below.
So this is where I report the findings I didn't love about the clippers. In the photo above you can see that the size is relatively comparable to the standard adult clippers I have shown on the right. Then, in the picture below, I tried to get as good of a picture as I could get to illustrate the one thing I didn't love about the Piyo Piyo clippers. It's that the blade size (width) is the same as the adult clippers. It's not actually smaller.
