Slipstick's gripper caster cups locks wheels of furniture, in our case an upright piano, into place while protecting floors from indentation and damage. You can use these casters with any furniture with wheels such as beds, pianos, cribs, pool tables, appliances, sofas...etc. However, the limitation with this specific size is that it only supports legs up to 1-3/4" or smaller (4.4 cm).
Rubber bottom under each caster stops any sliding or scratching and the deep cup holds wheel or leg firmly in place. Each caster supports up to 500 lbs and each package comes with 4 cups. These four little cups support a total of 2000 lbs!
Verdict: These are an absolutely must have for everyone who owns a piano and had wood floors! I actually never even heard of people using this for their pianos until the gentleman who came to repair a scratch on my piano told me about it. These little casters are the PERFECT size for an upright piano wheels. They fit nice and snug and doesn’t stand out. I didn’t want some huge caster cup that was going to be an eyesore under the piano. I wanted a petite little cup that fits the wheels just right so as not to call attention to them. These were everything I never knew I wanted! The only think that would makes these above and beyond perfect is if it came in more colors to match more floor colors. We have very light floors, if they came in white washed color, it’d fit even better. Come to think of it, it would be easy to just spray paint it the color you wish before putting them under the wheel. Too late for us...I don’t think my husband wants to lift the piano again. They were a little tricky to place because the piano is so heavy and you had to get the wheel perfectly in the center…you know… to satisfy your type-A personality!
