Flexi is something special.  This company has been around since 1973 and have been located in Northern Germany for nearly four decades.  The flexi-bogdahn group is a family owned business and they produce exclusively in German. They have become renown as the world's number one retractable leash.  In 2010, they were awarded the honor of becoming a brand of the century by "German Standards."

The product I am reviewing today is the 16 feet neon reflect retractable cord dog leash in small.  They have other sizes (medium and large) available for other weight classes.

The flexi Neon Reflect features 3M Highway Grade Reflective Sheeting on both sides of the leash casing. The high intensity prismatic sheeting is applied with permanent adhesive and is weatherproof. When a light source (street lights, headlights, etc.) shines onto the flexi Reflect, the reflective sheeting provides a bright glow to provide enhanced the visibility and improved safety. The flexi Reflect also has neon yellow accents to improve visibility during any daytime or nighttime walk. The patented one-hand braking and recoil system allows you to maintain full control of your dog during your walks together. This innovative system is integrated into the leash's ergonomic handle so it's easy to adjust the leash to an appropriate length for your surroundings. The lock button allows the leash to stay at a constant length.

 

This little rubber circle keeps the plastic part on the leash from hitting the plastic casing loudly.  This little detail is actually very thoughtful and essential to the overall use and comfort for my dog and myself!

A safety collar is included with every package and it should be used while walking your dog on any flexi retractable leash (this is what I have around her neck in the picture above.  All flexi retractable leashes are covered by a Limited Manufacture Warranty. Please note that this warranty does not cover damage caused by dog chewing, rough surfaces or other misuse or abuse.

Verdict? This retractable leash blows other retractable leashes out of the water.  The thoughtful design and comfort of use is what makes this particular leash stand out amongst its competitors.  There are some leashes that have some of the same features, but they always miss some critical piece that would turn something good to extraordinary, and this is definitely extraordinary as far as retractable leashes go.  I originally thought that the neon would be too loud of a leash but that ended up being my favorite part!! We are clearly visible to cars in both day and night.  With a small/medium dog like ours, we always worry cars can see her...even in the day! That is no longer as much as a concern as it once was!
